EE Candidate Placement

Over the last five years we have facilitated new career opportunities for more than 4200 EE candidates. This represents approximately 54% of our total placements.

DAV's BEE Status

DAV is committed to BEE and redressing the imbalances of the past. We annually participate in an independent rating conducted by Empowerdex. Our current rating is Level 3, and in addition we have been classified as a value-adding supplier. This means that our clients can recognise 137,5% of their spend with DAV as preferential BEE procurement.

The rating focuses on areas such as: BEE Ownership, Management, Employment Equity, Skills Development, Preferential Procurement, Enterprise Development, Corporate Social Investment and Operational Capacity. This rating is very relevant to our clients - it provides them with one more good reason why DAV is the best recruitment consultancy to partner with.

Equal Opportunities @ DAV

We currently have a staff complement of 162 of which 33% is comprised of Black, Asian and Coloured employees.

Over 3000 hours are devoted annually to the mentoring and development of our EE staff. 3.3% of our annual payroll is dedicated to the skills development of black employees (far above the industry average).

Several EE individuals have achieved success at DAV:

  • Receptionists who have been promoted to recruitment consultants
  • A window cleaner, employed many years ago, is now our buyer
  • One of our internship students now holds a middle management position
  • A typist promoted to Financial Administrator
  • An employee who started as a graduate at DAV is now our Corporate Relations Co-ordinator
  • Our Financial Manager was initially employed as a junior bookkeeper six years ago
  • Our top management is 100% female and we are currently developing black people to form part of this group

DAV Internships

Our internships focus primarily on the development of black women. Our programme, the Commercial Advancement Training Scheme (CATS), is implemented over two years and is NQF-aligned. It integrates structured learning with experiencial allowing the learners to develop and understand how the theory they learn is effectively applied in the workplace.

We support our interns through payment of tuition and stationery fees. Over and above this, we pay them a salary during their learnership programme.

All our interns, bar one, have stayed on with DAV and frequently excelled. One intern went on to become a Recruitment Consultant and another currently holds a middle management position.

Our EE Committee

Sisonke eSpanSisonke eSpan (we are a team that is together & together we have one common goal), DAV's EE committee is representative of our company in terms of gender, demographics, organisational structure and location.

At DAV they do many things, such as:

  • educate on cultural differences and diversity
  • assess company policies and procedures
  • set and review progress on EE goals
  • draft employment equity plans and submit reports
  • review, monitor and recommend on employment practices
  • feedback to employees on progress

Once a year we hold our Cultural Day, which is a firm favourite amongst staff, always raucous fun while still being educational.
